I need help with these carburetor problem.

My datsun is a B310 and its using a hyundai carburetor. Bought it new but i think it was local assembled or something like that.

Cost me RM400 (AUS$200) but it just sucks. My car is choking while normal driving speed of 90kmph. It stutters, really.

I need guidance on a better type or different kind of carburetor that has better pick-up but must still maintain fuel efficiency.

Thanks

Sounds like you got some troubleshooting to do. It may not be your carb at all.

I thought it was the fuel filter, but its not it.

Even after tuning the carburetor didn't work. Its a new one. But previously, a smart-arse mechanic open the whole new carburetor, including the float and everything went BYE BYE!.

So i went to a specialist, and he manage to rectify it but it lasted only a short while. He told me i better change the carb.

Could someone recommend me a better carb but fuel efficient then?

The weber 32/36 is by far the most popular carb for regular street performance use. They flt onto all kinds of four cylinders with an adapter and jetting recomendations are usually available. Check the tech section of this site.
But before you waste more money on a new carb I would try and fix your old one. Get a manual and start checking all the specs. Its not that hard, just be meticulous and careful.

Yea its the Hitachi Carb.

I wanna solve this problem permanently.

My engine dies sometimes when idle and its ticking me off.

Luckily my FICD helps me sometimes tho...

I don't have time on my hands to give my carb a full checking & service, even if I wish I did.

Can I ask a stupid question?

Where to get a webber, how to find one and how much is it going to cost me?

Will the fuel consumption be higher? I know it gives me better power.
