I have the chance to purchase a 78 b210gx a-14 for $50 and there gonna pull it for me it turns over but wont fire, it has been sitting for 4+ years. Just wondering if that engine would be a better choice for my a-12 powered coupe?

Definitely - the A14 is my favorite A series motor. It loves to rev and has a decent amount of torque. You will notice a big difference over a standard A12 and it will perform well in your 'lighter than a B210' 1200.

Most A14 heads are oval port, although I do have a round port on my 77 B210 that I will be removing. I bought an SU carb setup from australia for it, on ebay. This will fit the New cylinder head I have. The A12 intake may not work on the A14 unless the head was drilled for the center mounting bolts. Like in this pic

is it possible to drill the hole myself or have a shop do it for me? Are you saying that the a-14 head is the better way to go?

You can drill and tap the hole yourself. just check the depth on the a12 head as to not go too far. As far as the better head Im not sure. Too many variables of not knowing what you have.

Why would you want to use the A12 cylinder head on an A14?

If it is a GX engine, definitely use the GX head.
