new radiator, ex speedway twin core :)
Guest_
Here are some pics of my twin core exspeedway radiator for the 1200. nice thick core, approx 4 to 5 cm, sligltly larger top hose inlet and slightly angled for better air cooling through engine bay apparently.

Just got it back fom a claen and check with a few repairs.

No problems on 35deg plus days not for the
a15

car goes good, just have to put a new tie rod on passenger side and bushes... and come see you for that diff. can we lower the rear a bit (reverse a leaf?) or stiffen it with those 120y leaves? the front handles nice with ex boof racing shocks ans springs.
The -0.8 camber and strut brace help too.

It actually is a 1960s bluebird core cut down a little and modified. Looks more like a home van one to me (but they were single cores mostly too). Has nippon on the top tank pressed into the metal.

yeah that diffs still here, was tempted to cut the mounts off it to use on the skyline diff but i guess i can leave them on it
we can lower the back, dont know about lower and stiffen usually thats a job for the pros

wish i had a strut brace to test. mines still in boofs garage coz i cant be stuffed going and getting it

still gotta sort out a thermo for my car though, i think ive got one of the biggest radiators that can fit in the front of a 1200, but i still cant get threw traffic without the temp going up

have you tried shrouding the fan and the under body radiator/sump shroud? on the coupe it used to get real hot with out them fitted. gemini radiator was a temp fix but the shroud fell off due to the weight of it and the rust in the rad support

i think its more the fact that i dont have any fan the L series ont doesnt fit in as the fan would hit on the radiator support panel, one bellow the radiator

just dont have a thermo in my collection thats skinny enough to fit in the front, also cant be bothered buying a new one

the fun of L series power

you could try an n12 pulsar electric fan mounted on the front of the radiator core & with the wires connected to blow through the radiator,as these are reasonably thin, come with a shroud & move a lot of air. i've got one in the sunny with the l18 i half own, & it keeps the engine cool, but i really haven't had a chance to test it out.the radiator i had built for this car used n12 pulsar top & bottom tanks, with larger outlets & b310 sides, so it had the position to put the n12 fan switch in it, which i've wired up to run full time. i'll put it on a relay & the ignition circuit if i have a problem.

120y leafs equals a higher arse and under-steer

go some blocks

best not to play with the springs i think they are very well suited as standard

just thinking of adding the small 120 y leaf and reversing one of the others to bring it down a little.
The ride height is not a real factor but the rear of the car compared to the stiff front end feels floaty and not as connected as the front end.
lookingfor a sway bar eventually but have a 120y in the front already

well here it is compared to my stock one. no wonder the a15 hated hot days (more coming next week so lucky its in now)

idle temp droped from 180-185 to 160 to 165 farenheight.

On the freeway used to get to about 200 to 210 F when ambient temp around 30deg C but would not take it on freeway if ambient any hotter.

took on freeway same day ambient 24deg C and temp dropped from 195 with old rad to 175to 180 with new one.

Lucky have a nice 80deg thermostat in there too (same as before changing rads)
