Anyone got any idea on how the RB20 BB Turbo goes when strapped on a CA18DET?

The Rb20 turbo would go alright but it is a T3 bolt patern so you will either need to modify your manifold or get an adapter plate.
You would be better off getting a small GT series GT25-28 they are pretty cheep these days and offer great response and power more so than the rb 20 turbo.

Cheers Guys,

I am already running a T3 manafold and a very tired VG30 turbo. It was recommended that a RB20 would bolt up and be a good turbo on a CA18.

Was after some reviews on how this turbo would perform.

I had a S13 few years ago. Put a T28 off a SII R33 GTS-t on it, you have to weld an adaptor plate to the manifold. Still wasn't a big job! also had a Evo 4 FMIC, straight through 3" exht. The std comp was just reprogrammed a tillbrooks. Made 157rwkw @ 15psi still std injector/fuel pump.
That power felt great in the S13 (my great was a little different to now though) can only imagine what it'll feel like in a car that's 400kg lighter.
One day when i get my CA transplant I'll be going down the same path!

Kym

I have a mate that is trying to get rid of a HKS25/40R would be a killa turbo for a CA. His Gemmi with a G180 ran 11.6 @ 115mph with this turbo.

The RB20 turbo wont be as laggy as the VG turbo and should fit straight on the T3 manifold. Should make similar power just come on a little earlier.

if you are talking RB series turbos then you may as well look out for an RB25 version. They are an easy upgrade on FJ20's and people have found them to be more responsive than a stock turbo and still good for 150-170rwkw.

I'd say the RB20 turbo would be limited to around 140rwkw.
