Today whilist helping my dad put his rear sway bar onto his lj torana and was having a look at the rear end set up which rear have lower control arms (standard in the lj's lc's hq's so on)

heres a link to the rear lower control arm im talking about also showing the spring seat:

Anyways i was thinking if these rear lower control arms that connect the diff to the chassis could be adapted to a 1200 maybe shortened and somehow bolted onto were the front of the leaf spring mount to the chassis and then brackets welded to the diff that these rear lower control arms could connect too

just a thought....

what do ya think?

yes dattoman has a 4 bar link in his sedan with coilover shocks, quite a neat little setup. Dont know how successful it is for outright handling

This is Dattoman's [correction, Dattodude's] setup just before it was registered [April 2005]
This picture shows the original configuration, however there is a NEW & IMPROVED version of it with Watts linkage instead of the Panhard bar.

The watts linkage and 28 spline 3.7:1 LSD skyline housing will be completed and installed after the datnats. Things are reliable for now. I'd like to keep them that way for a 3000+km drive.

I'll be making the drive with the 3.45:1 25 spline diff, which should see some great fuel economy.

Ah yes I was the original internet dattoman, however I lost my password on the original Yahoo Datsun 1200 club site some time in 1998, and had to create a newer persona after finding more and more dattoman's around the internet. I believe I'm still unique as dattodude.

Anyway, in regards to 4 link, would I recommend it? Not really. I'm yet to enjoy any real improvement, and after the mods, it's real hard to go backwards without switching shells. That might take my car off the road until 2012.

Ahhh yes, the dreaded faux pas. Please accept my appologies Dattodude, I should have known better.
I'll just give myself an uppercut. [ouch]

there's quite few clones running loose on eBay:

"datsun1200dude" "dattodude" "dattoman" "datto-man" "datto-dudde" "dattodude85" "datodude" "dato-dude"

one of them must be the real mccoy ...

there's even a "datododge" ... wonder who that could be
