I was planning on getting the identical hard cover to evilbetty, but when i spoke to sssute about it he said i will need to aomehow modify it to fit since the lip is shaved ( you can see in my pics just clivk on the link in my siggy) and i was wondering would it perhaps look ok or even be possible to have a section welded on that would be able to make the cover fit or not?

i had pretty much planned everything to include this cover and now i am at a standstill as to what to do now. Any help is so greatly appreciated i am desperate for this cover

Just take some measurements of an original lip. Measure the height and the top width. Then get some RHS (box tube) this size and weld it on. Or just get some folded up. You will have to make the round ends out of some sheet
You should be able to make it look ok even with the lid up.

Personally I would leave the lip the way it already is. I would make a gutter to weld on the inside edge. And then make or modify a hard lid to sit flush but down inside the tray. You can put a normal rubber seal on the gutter and some drain tubes in the corners.
Its a bit more work. But it will look tidy.

Just another idea, if you wanna keep the lip shaved, then as phunk said, find something the same height as the lip, but instead of attaching it to the ute tray, attach it underneath the tray cover.

That way when u lift the lid, it will look good with no lip and the tray cover will also sit at the right height
