Hi

I got hold of two Dellorto 40 webers. They were fitted to a A14 engine. I am planning to fit them to my standard A12GX motor.
Do you guys think that the jetting will be ok enough? It's only 200cc difference.

I am more of a SU person and don't know anything about these carbs. I , for example, heard that they have a membrane inside that tends to give trouble(tear or eaten by fuel), while another person said I must not use a certain brand of fuel here in South Africa because it contains a alcohol base that eats this membrane.Any info appreciated that you feel like sharing.

Hey mate, do you know what sort of DHLA's they are? (they should have a prefix after the DHLA for example DHLA-F).

Jetting should be right if they were jetted for the A14 in the first place.

The float will get eaten if you use ethanol blend fuels.

I should actually read whats written in the question.

My excuse;

the floats in mine DHLA-G's were plastic,
the floats in my F's brass.

I got some vinyl gaskets to use instead of the paper ones off ebay, they are meant for turbo use but also better sealing than paper ones, I got top cover gasket, jet cover gasket and pump diaphram gasket all in vinyl, dont know if they would be resistant to ethanol?

Yea I think that is the thing. Sorry, I only know SU's.

WhiteSedan, if you start a sentence like that, it tells me that I have possible problems. Tell me more. What is the good one's and what is the bad one's. I might be wrong but I think they are the F's.
I am quite eager to learn more.

Not really all can be made to work well with smaller capacity motors just some are more work than others.

All prefix DHLA 40's except C and E are emissions carbs.

You have to look at what jetting they have, also get a torch down the barrel and see what size the chokes are. There should be a small number says 30 or 32 etc.

Because they are for a two litre it is hard to get them lean enough down low without causing problems with leaning out in higher revs but theres ways around everything.

This is an interesting read

I quickly went to take a look.
Directly after the DHLA there is a H stamped.

Are they a matched pair, ie. do they have id tags and are the serial no's close?

If your keeping them to use, buy this book ebay

Also this guy on ebay is a great help, this is where I bought all my jets + gaskets for my Dellortos ebay

Hi Hendrik, sorry about no reply, moved to another team where I'll be doing some Java programming, so PC was also offline from just after we spoke over the phone. Tried to phone, but got no answer. I think the guy at Lamco will be able to give us some dope on the D's, will let you know as soon as I phoned him...

I looked in the barrel last night. The chokes are 33. I think this is a bit too big for A12 engine.

kulula. I will appreciate it alot. I see that one of the barrels is not having it's idle ajustment screw.
