Oil cooler on A15?

Hi, my A15 doesn't have an oil cooler setup - so what do I need if I want to install one?

Some adapter at the oil filter mount, hoses & the cooler?

So is there a kit that can be purchased, or is it better to get separate parts & put it together?

depending on in what country u live, u can find out. her in south africa there are places that make up a kit for your specification. but its sometimes cheaper to do it yourself. its a good thing to fit one. gives your engine longer life

A cobber of mine has priced up a kit that sits between the filter and pump. It also has a thermostat. This means that when the oil is cold, it bypasses the cooler. This prevents oil scour. Some later model RX7's had the same sort of thing.

it's pretty easy, you can do it with off the shelf parts pretty easily.
it shouldn't cause any harm...

a check valve on the outlet of the pump is a good idea to keep all the oil in the system.

Check valve is a one way valve that will keep the oil from draining away. This is so that there will be oil available if you start the engine after standing for the night or a whole day.

it's a gooood idea, since there is a lot of hose from the pump to the filter and to the thermostat - to the cooler and back, the oil system probably holds another qt or more with it filled.

I think having more oil is the biggest advantage, cooling it off is 2nd.

That being said, how do you ever drain out all the oil for a change?

BTW here's what my A15 is in...

well.... if you really wanted to, you could take a hose off and drain it all out, but I never have - of course you'd want to do a flush out if you suspected the oil of having bad particles...

For me - oil changes are more optional, the oil never gets dirty, and doesn't get petrol in it, so i change it every 3-4 k miles, jsut to be nice, but really i don't need to do it that often...

while you're at it consider relocating the filter and using something bigger and better for an oil filter...
