For torque and MPG - DCOE or SU?

Someone is going to say "just stick with the stock 306 if you want MPG". I want more performance then the 306 but I don't want to give up ALL of my fuel economy.

I am curious what the actual difference is for properly tuned examples of DCOE and SU setups for this torque/fuel efficiency goal.

I have a DCOE and manifold in hand - is it worth finding a GX style SU setup instead, or can I get the DCOE close enough? I am going to be using a round port quench head, small chokes, correct cam, and proper jetting for max low end torque on an A15.

I just want to know ahead of time if the DCOE is never going to come close to the SU for that kind of setup.

Thanks all.

on my L20b im pretty sure im getting about the same fuel consumption with my untuned twin 40mm dellortos as what i got with the supposedly tuned SUs.....difference is there is a #### load more power

dont know what they will be like when correctly tuned

Correctly tuned single DCOE I think will give you better power (ok, maybe the same as two SU's because it also has two barrels)and about the same fuel economy. Put it on the engine, you already have it and don't have to go and look for the SU.
