they can be bogged up but means you need to find somewhere else for it to breathe. well that's my understanding of it anyway

the cabin air goes out the vents below the rear window on the inside of the cab and then out those vents on the side.
if you weld/bog them up you have to find a different place for it to vent out of.
otherwise you may sleep to the lullaby of carbon monoxide.

Mine are shut too...though I cant tell as I thought ALL 1200s had whiff of fine motoring about them...IE:that good ol petrolly smell

Nothin winding the window down a finger wont fix?...which I usually do anyways.

Interested to see if anyones actually re-located their vents though...short of one of those spinning ice cream van thingos on the roof (if thats the case...then i DONT wanna see!)

i think you will find that the vents are there to let the air out of the car when you close the door.
otherwise, the cabin would pressurize, making it hard to close the door properly.
every car has them, but newer cars put them in more discreet places.

Closing up the exhaust vents without making new ones simply removes a designed-in feature of the vehicle, .... & I though this forum was about making our cars better, ... not less.

Yea i have seen them welded up heaps of times before, and new vents fitted (facing the tray) up against the sides out of the way. I have even seen one of the leaf grills used as a vent in the cabin. Personally i am keeping the vents, but upgrading the covers with a new style that will be color coded to suit.
