....and my first attempt of making a movie from a bunch of clips.

The vid is the boy (Nav Man Jnr as Unfamilia calls him) giving my poor XR6T some lovin' in a grass motorkhana. Some nice turning of the car with the throttle!
youtube

If this is what he is like at 12 yrs, I imagine he'll show up my driving skills soon enough.

Those who know Initial D might pick the music....

Yeah there were plenty of pirouettes out there...

Was overall a pretty low speed day, with plenty of wheel spin.

Good for learning car control in slow motion!

Did I detect a steady improvement with each run. Looks like the lad was fast learning some throttle control there. Imagine what he will be like when he's 13.

Yeah I think he did get better....

My favourite was the second run, "Mothballs" some really nice controlled oversteer really early around the flags too.

Great to hear there are bunch of young guys learning how to drive fast on the track, and not waiting to drive like complete idiots on their "Ps".

Nice work guys!

A wet grassy padock with some cardboard boxes for markers is probably the best place to get some ab-initio training in vehicle control. Some place to go nutso at low speeds with plenty of slide & drift, but nobody to crash into.

If you can master that properly, then one is well on the way to being competent behind the wheel.
