Just enough exhaust to exit from the exhaust manifold/extractors to the side of the car so maybe 1 or 2 meters depending on where you want the outlet

does this have to be a specfic length

spray a line of paint down the exhaust, give the motor a work out and where the paint stops burning off thats the length you want it to be! read about it in an old drag racing mag and it worked a treat on my brothers speedway car

The diameter is much more important than the length. Small diameter is good for low-rpm hp. Larger diameter is good for high-rpm horsepower. But too large and all horsepower goes down...
