pretty easy if you hate shi7 jobs.
just pull the gearbox, pull the clutch off the flywheel and swap him over.
the worst bit is putting the box back onto the engine.

i have changed a box before, is it a matter of just undoing a bunch of bolts and pulling the clutch off or is the special tools adjustments etc that are needed

Hey Shmity, just get a clutch align tool from xtreme clutches, costs $5 , allows you to centre the clutch disc, and all should be easy from there!

centre the clutch by making sure all three the edges are flush to the edge of the pressure plate disc, then the centre will be 100% perfect. old trick my oldboy showed me when we did mine.

disconnect battery
remove starter
clutch canle/ slave cylinder
remove tailshaft
plug gearbox extension housing
remove gearbox mount
undo bell housing bolts
remove gearbox
undo pressure plate bolts
remove pressure plate/clutch
mark flywheel position (due to balancing)
get flywheel machined, clutch manufatures will instantly void warranty if flywheel isnt machined
align clutch ( with tool or fingers)
install pressureplate/ clutch onto dowels and tighten bolts in several steps criss crossing ensuring theyre all tightened down roughly evenly.

install gearbox etc

happy days

If your unbolting the flywheel, loctite and torque properly, value those legs!

Can you give more details on this please?
I supervised my clutch replacement when it was done. Flywheel position was never marked. It was machined and put back together. What symptons will there be when a flywheel is out of balance?
Mine seems fine although it only sees 6000rpm max.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

iv also never heard about the amrking teh flywheel thing. if its balanced it should be the same no matter which way its put on the motor right? its round must be the same either way you put it. but i guess its a good extra precaution to take

The rotating assemblies are balanced together at factory, it would be worth marking the flywheel if your car has never been pulled apart but I wouldnt bother for most 1200's out there.
