I'm removing my CA18 gearbox extension housing this w'end to fit a new speedo worm drive (original one was stripped).

What do I need to watch out for?
Worried about the old - Easy now.... Just a little tap.... SPROING!!... Ow!.... BANG!.... CRASH!..... FU

Any advice would be appreciated.

find an online manual for your gearbox (ie find a S13 manual)

click here to save time searching the web.

there will be everything you need to know about everything in there.

Well the new (internal) speedo drive is in & working.

But, I have to say..... WHATAFUCKINGHORRIBLEJOB! (I removed the extension housing with the gearbox & bellhousing still attached).

Highlights included drilling a hole in the transmission tunnel so I could align a pin punch to enable the roll pin that holds the selector shaft housing to be punched out.

Datsun 1200 transmission tunnel + CA18DET gearbox = No Bloody room!

It's a crap job Coops. I plan on fabricating a bigger tunnel at some stage as doing anything gearbox related is a pain in the rear. At least you've got it fixed now.
