Probably a tough fit, but anything can be done.

It would be an original, that's for sure. If you have the time and money go for it.

Is that out of a 318i? That wouldnt be too hard to fit, they are a 4cyl.

I have a 318i motor and a 320i if you need engine parts.
Im not parting out the 320i

yes its from the 318i. ive measured it all up and it will be a very tight fit. its goin to be a long term project as i will be building the engine up before it goes in. there will be alot of work involed as the motor is on a slant and the booster will have be relocated so i scored the one out of the bemer which has linkages the mount it on the opposite side.

actually i may need spare parts as i have a few broken parts such as the dizzy and housing, water pump and pully and possibly altinator. i will also need to adapt a pully to suit muti v belt for the supercharger

the supercharger is quite a large unit utilising a bypass valve with unfortuanately makes it longer making it more difficult to fit however on the bright side these things can produce something like 14 - 17 psi of boost which ive seen on a supercharged 3.5L v8 mighty boy i was working on last year

there a slant 4 though arent they, would make it a bit harder to fit

EDIT: so you know it will be hard to fit

surely there would be some better candidates out there if its to be a long term project rather than something just thrown together coz you have the parts

well i could have just thrown a ca in it but who wasnt done that? there is nothing wrong with this engine its done over 300 thousand k's and it still looks brand new on the inside( apart from carbon deposits), bores still have orignial hone marks

Those cast iron beemer motor's are heavy as buggery.

I'd imagine similar handling characteristics to a FJ20..... Understeer

Would go alright on the strip though....
What do you want to use it for?

my experience of both the bmw and merc 1.8 efi 4cyl engines is they are thirsty, heavy and noisy even at idle and worse at over 100kmh.
enthusiasts actually do engine swaps the other way round, thats putting nissan SR20's into merc 180E's and bmw 318's to make them move.

how much does it cost to build a bmw motor compared to a Nissan or Toyota donk?
