just wanna know wat are the most common (best) shocker to use in a 1200 ute (rear), i have a pintara/r31 shortened diff and standard leaf springs. wanna get this thing moving again.... im sorta over driving the rolla everywhere.... :P

Steer well away from gas only shocks (monroe, gabriel etc) as they have too much rebound and you will wheelspin and skip over bumps etc especially in a ute with the lighter rear end.

Kyb make some good cost effective shocks.

Also look at shocks from different cars, many will fit, Ive had bilsteins from a 320i bmw in my sedan, bit too long though, also SAAB front shocks in the rear as they are real short and work well also very high quality.

can u give anymore info on the saab ones? year, model etc...?

Its an 80's 900, all 900's had the same front shock until the 90's where they went to a mcpherson strut.

I found it at upullit elizabeth, theres a few of them there, I just went for the granny spec looking car. They are short so you get a lot of travel for a lowered car, they are the same length uncompressed as my 1200 coupe koni's.

are the saab ones for the rear of a sedan sean ?? if they are how much shorter are they than the orig ones ?

Yes the front saabs fit in the rear, they are about half the size of a standard shock, they are very firm, nearly as firm as the konis I have, Im not sure if they are oil or oil/gas assisted but should do the trick.

I'm gonna try finish musty's engine swap after work tonight so will be at the shed, will take some pics for you guys as a bit of a comparison.

EDIT; Dont coupe and utes bolt up the same, eyelet diff end and thread to the body?
