Hey everyone,
I'm contemplating going down to Summernats next year but trying to do it budget, can anyone recommend somewhere to stay cheap, prefer not to camp but may have to.

Any other ideas let me know.

We've already booked (you really need to get in early). The place we stay at (Tall Trees or something like that) gives first preference to previous customers and it always books out.

One year Kirstie and I decided late that we were going and used wotif.com to book a real nice joint two days before we left. This is probably your best option 'coz you'll always find something on their website, and they have good deals. We got buffet breakfast with ours.

you can camp just out side canberra at eagles nest or somthing like that its only a 15 min drive max and costs about 20 a night. the canberra motor inn in black mountain has cheep cabins from about 70 a night they get a bit hot though but self contained so you can save $$ on food by cooking your own

or just roll out a swag in a park or on the side of the road somewhere
If you get a place in braddon then you dont have to go far for the cruising at night, can watch from the balcony even.

thanks guys for the info, I'm hoping to fly down so I'd have to bus or train it everywhere so camping although I would like to is out.

But I haven't fully decided yet so who knows, if I can't find cheap place to stay I may just have to camp.
