Wouldnt changing the crank change the displacement not the compression ratio?

If you run an A14 crank, with A15 pistons you get a piston height 2.5mm below the deck. This gives a CR of around 7.22:1 depending on combustion chamber volume. A head saver shim is a lazier way of dropping the CR. From what I've been reading lately, You could try leaving the CR standard and just run H20/Methanol injection.
