Hey guys, I have a 1200 ute diff in my 120y and it has packed in, or is about to, make a ding ding noise as i drive down the street. Put in on stands and had the car going in 3 rd to get a bit of speed and im pretty sure the sound is coming from inside the diff housing. So my question is, what diff centres will fit a 1200 ute diff housing and axles. I have a couple of 120y BW diff centres, maybe I can out that in? In case Pigdog reads this, remeber the ute diff I bought off you and you warned that one of the barings was leaking Oil? Do you think that its just baring noise?

Jap assembled Stanzas and some bluebirds not sure which ones though. Someone was also trying C20 Vans if I remember right.

a12 vans should have a 4.875 centre that will fit. s1 and s2 bluebirds would probably be the most common source for 3.9.

that noise is probably just some of the welds on the centre coming off and mixing witht he bearings.....nothing to worry about

well i have conducted repairs and found that continual burn outs will cause death to a diff. I took it out and there is a small bar that goes between the spider gears, it has broken and was making the noise. As to you other diff Pigdog, I took it to work and re weld it, and have put it under the car this arvo and is as good as new. Good thing I got two centres off you, cos now the non welded one needs to be welded. I also have an a12 vanette centre, the 4. whatever, so at least i know that fits. Wouldnt that one be stronger that a 1200 ute diff?

just take the pin out of one of the other centres and put it threw the one i made...and that centre i made wont actually die in a hurry
but make sure you put some welds around that pin as the holes are probably now a bit bigger than they are supposed to be
