Copped another blow from WA transport Dept today.

They have stated I need to removed the Surge tank setup from my 1200 coupe and the engineer said this is a common problem encountered and if transport say no then you cant get around it. Im told if they say yes - as long as you get and engineer to sign it off then thats ok. But they said NO

WA now uses the National Standards which you boys on the east coast also follow. So has anyone recently got a car engineered with a surge tank? And if so where was it mounted and how was it done. Bearing in mind this is for a sedan or coupe. In WA you can have it setup in the tray of a ute apparantley.

I'd love to know too. Where did you have it when they said no? I'm trying to figure out where to mount mine.... or more accurately I'm being lazy and waiting for Mildman to figure it out for me

Swirlpot seems the go - will print those pix and stick them in the file for future refference.

Going to plumb it up with the high flow efi pump as I have allready modified the tank with new lines and pickup etc. This will satisfy engineer and transport.

The setup I had was - Custom alloy surge tank which was in the rear quarter along with the lift pump and filter. The main pump was separate to this. This compartment was externally vented through the boot floor. However the response from transport was the 1200 and the Nissan silvia donor car never had a surge tank as factory fitment, so their is no need for one.
