A12 MAX Overbore???

Hey all,

Just wondered if anyone could tell me what cyl wall thickness was for A12 engine its a mid dizzy one I've seen 76.7 i think it said for some works nissan stuff.... but planning to go to 77.5mm for racing use ... any thoughts???

I THINK the biggest you can go with an A12 is 1308cc

Mine is 1298cc (not sure of bore size but could probably calculate it...)

1298cc = bore of 76.8mm
1308cc = bore of 77.1mm

so 3.8mm and 4.1mm are fair over bores, considering that noone really overbores a RB more than 2mm

Ok ... looking like 77mm = 1303.85cc might be safer option for me at this stage

Pushing a 1200 or A12 block past 77mm is pushing your luck, but 77mm should be OK in most blocks.

You might want to do the math in relation to the 1974 US model A13 block. This is basically an A14 but with the smaller 73mm bore size & is stamped A13 as the prefix to the engine number. [73mm x 77mm + tall deck block]

US only, .... one year only, so it's not common, but they do exist & might be a solution to your problems.
