Just done this one myself so I know your pain.

The welch plug hole in the back of the head is a little different from the others, as the hole is not the same diameter all the way through and has about a 3mm lip on the back.

This stops you removing the welch plug as you normally would.

You will just have to persevere, but be careful not to damage the alloy head.

I ended up getting vice grips on the welch plug through the whole I created and the levered off a block of wood.

Good luck

die grind it a bit on opposite sides so its thin and weak then crack it in half with a quick sharp blow from a chisle...might work..

you could try tap a big thread through the welsh plug, put a long bolt in it and pull on the bolt with vice grips.

other wise, the sharp chisel idea sounds good.

a good piece of wood and a hammer?

At least you have easy access to work on it.
