It sounds like the plot of a movie... But we had an F1 tornado (lowest level of damage) in Washington State earlier this month. First time since 1972. It has been really cold this winter, like it used to be years ago. I remember seeing a newspaper (1929?) where people were driving from Oregon to Washington -- without using the bridge. The Mighty Columbia was frozen solid.

Everytime they get us going into mandatory water conservation there is a huge amount of rain.
hopefully this weather will make a ton of snow so it will help with our insane water usage.
Tornado warning just ended, but we've got 2x the normal amount of rain for the year now, and like 5 more days of bad weather.

I went out grocery shopping and came out and it was coming down, I love it, the other drivers suck, it's fun trying not to drift the car.
I'm enjoying the remote start on these crappy weather days.
Haven't needed my block heater yet, only too the car to the snow once, RWD in the snow is a bit too exciting.

I'm not sure whats worse, having tornado warnings and storms that can distory your house or just being cold up here in B.C.
We get the "canada is coverd in snow 9 months of the year and we live in igloos thing". We had like 4 days of snow last year and it was only about 5cm thick. Its chili here right now, about -2 in the morning 4 in the afternoon and back to -2 at night. However, there is not a cloud in the sky which kind of looks like a cold summer.
It rains like crazy during the rainy seasons and is depressing as hell. I guess it isen't that bad, no earth quakes, Storms, Tornado's or Volcanoes. The only scary thing is that Richmond is an island which is surrounded by a Dyke. This means that I live below the waterline and if there was a major earthquake or something, we would flood, sink and die. Until then we got some kick arse Mountains 45mins from here!
I would love to visit Australia someday, beautiful landscape and waters I hear. Can anyone discribe the weather there in winter?

my car needs a bilge pump! got in and there was tons of water in the floor, luckily i have no carpet.
Living below water level is kinda scary.
BC just doesn't get many earthquakes, a big one in washington and you'll be feeling it too.
I'm unsure if cloudy weather will depress me, sometimes january gets to me, but it's not the weather as much as the crazy life changes that always seem to happen that time of year.
I'd rather be cold than hot, at least in theory, i can put on more clothing to warm up.

Or spend your afternoon in the backyard hacking up old Logs and 2x4's for the fireplace.
