I've had oil pressure problems with my 120y Turbo. Did some circuit events a couple of weeks ago and found that going round corners tightest ones, that I was losing oil pressure right down to nothing but would come when exit the corner. The day was fairly hot and yes it did have plenty of oil in it. I'm running a semi-synthetic 10W-40 oil in the engine. Would it be that the oil was over heating and becoming to thin or do I need to look at upgrading the standard oil pump to something bigger?

As far as I know its still using the original sump, so would this be where the problem is?

I dont think having a turbo would affect the oil flowing away from the pickup. I dont think its a common problem? I assume you have the oil feed for the turbo from the same source as the pressure gauge. This might be giving a deceptively low reading on your gauge?

baffle the sump and run a big head oil pick up not the small head.

Few go into a corner hard enough to experience this :)
There are a few options, baffle the sump, add in one of the oil pressure storage devices, adding an oil cooler system would give you additional pressurized oil that could smooth out those low pressure moments.
Next problem will be oil leaking out the breather because you pull too many G's in corners, so if you don't have one you'll want a catch can for that soon.

yeh its good old fashioned oil surge.
sometimes if my ute doesnt have quite a full amount of oil, then turning right the oil pressure drops, turning left is fine though.
however when dip stick is on the full mark no troubles at all.
definately time to baffle the sump, alter the oil pick up position and maybe even add an oil catch can. talk to some of the racers on here to see that they have done.

A work mate got me thinking today, the problem mainly happened when going round left handers which makes me think that I might have to change the oil pick up in the sump. Yeah the turbo feed is in the same place as the pressure gauge on the side of the oil filter, will this be cutting the oil pumps ablity to pump the oil round. Is there any oil pump upgrade that could be of a help.

Without further investigation anyone on here can only really guess at what is going on.
But:
I doubt its the pump or else it would happen at other times.
I doubt its the oil viscosity or else it would happen at other times.
I doubt it has anything to do with the turbo feed being on the same line as the guage. (I suppose that it's possible this could cause the guage to read incorrectly but again this would happen at other times as well not just left hand corners.)
I think the general consensus here is that the oil is flowing away from the pick up on the corners and the pump is sucking air.
I tend to agree that the solution is you need more baffles in the sump or Maybe differently designed baffles and pickup, the race guys would definately have this sorted or else there would be lots of blown engines around. Then again maybe they use dry sumps to avoid this problem.
