Greenslips are based on driver, not the car. They are also more susceptible to insurance variables than comprehensive premiums. What this means basically is that insurance companies change the price of greenslips in accordance to their insurance payout figures for the previous year (to make up for their losses).

Driving a 1200 ute in other words has zero effect on your greenslip (other than it's a ute and therefore classified as commercial usage even if you use it privately). Your age, record, and where you live are the indicators.

this is rigged between the top companies there all expensive and only bout 5 to choose from
range from $400+ to $700+
every1 i chat to says it should be $200 to $300 but cant find a company this cheap

you are the only one that can get the price for you. its no good us saying " i got mine for 200 bucks" when you may never get it at that price.

the last nsw green slip i got for my 1600 this year was 280 through aami so the high cost wouldnt be because of the age of car or driver as im under 50 (phew) so i can only htink its high as pepper and whorida have said because comercial vehicle

My greenslip (with AAMI) is just over $400, and I'm 26, live in a low crime area and have all my points. I found it through the greenslips website, where the prices ranged from $400 to $700.

The only aspect for age is whether you're over or under 25, so there is no difference between 26 and 50 for the purposes of insurance. Just get the online quote and ring the company that offers the lowest. You may find the actual greenslip is cheaper than quoted (has happened to me before, a pleasant surprise).
