Those of you who've painted your car completely can you tell me what you did with the wiring tie backs in the engine compartment?

You can kind of see them in the pic right up under the lip overhanging the firewall.

I'm concerned that if I paint them up all nice & fresh & then go to wrap them over the wiring loom when I put it back they'll crack & the paint will look really crappy.

I know this is a rather anal retentive point I just don't want to go to all this work & have the paint look all F**ed up.

What have you guys done?

Thanks, Evan

I was thinking of removing them and then pop riveting these on after painting. . .

Or paint the original tabs and then put heatshrink sleeves over them.

I was thinking something like that too (when I get my ute done) but I would be after something a little more ummm nicer... less plasticy...

I just straightened min out and painted them. I seem to recall there were black plasticy slip-on covers over them, but it was a long time ago so I could be mistaken...

I painted mine, removed the black plastic covers first, being 2pac its pretty flexible and my mate said they shouldnt crack, if they do I'll just use something to cover them.

funny how lots of people had the same thoughts.I'm tempted to cut them off, grind em down & use some new fastener, something decent looking though.

Hey Frank, how'd you run the loom inside? Tucked up under the dash, along the back of the firewall?

did you need to make new entrance & exit holes for it? I'm curious, if not too difficult it might be a way to go. the cleaned up engine compartment looks better. Do you have any pic's of the routing?

Thanks All!
