After advertising the ute for a few weeks and with a bit of interest but no sale, I've decided to keep it...
It runs out of rego in a couple of weeks so have decided to take it off the road, take the sr20de and drive train out of it and put it into my soon to be acquired 1200 coupe and get it on the road, then the project drag ute starts.... Well thats the plan for the moment, I'm pretty impulsive so things could change at anytime.
So my question to everyone is, what engine should I go for?
Considering the ute is already running the sr20de, should I,
drop an sr20det into it with a bit of work done?
Or go something a little different and drop a 13b turbo into it.
I'm looking at diff ideas to run aswell, currently running an r31 lsd but will be putting that in the coupe so am thinking of putting something bigger and stronger in it, possibly even running a 4 link?
Too many options to go with.....
Any other ideas or experiences for something to put in the good old ute would be greatly appreciated. Keeping in mind that I intend on having this as a long term project. So no rush with any of the mods.
Cheers guys.....

That can't be legal.... But it'll be awesome either way. I'd love to see that up and running, obviously a few years away?
How's the ute coming along anyway?

In saying 'DRAG', Do you want mean you want to register it?
If not, Like Laney said, an RB engine would be sensational... (especially a RB30det!!!) long engine though.

Or go for something different...

GEN 3??? - Aluminium, light weight - then stick 8 to 10 PSI up it's arse!
You'll be holding on for dear life no matter what sort of rear end set up you run!

By "drag" i mean anything driveable, not necessarily street legal.... Will have the coupe as a daily so the ute will be purely for fun. Considering it aleady has the sr set up was thinkin turbo all the way.. But have a mate who builds rotary engines in his spare time so that got me thinkin about droppin a 13b turbo into it. The tunnel is extra large in the ute so will have no trouble fitting any type of gearbox in there...

I'd love to see some one put a turbo Busa motor in one hookin up the drive train could be a lot of work, tho they have done it in smart cars. 300+ hp with a 6 speed sequential box = lots of fun

having a ute i'd rather go fot a hilux diff. same ratio as r31. more reliable and already with leafsrings. hilux diff can be upgraded by an airlocking difflock. as for the engine why don't you buy an sr20det and change pistons to ur de. gett a t28 turbo and try that way if u wanna be streetable. not streetlegal. and what about the breaks. have u already got an idea about that??

Yeah am leaning towards the sr20det, mainly because i have the cross member and everything is mounted to suit the engine.
The hilux diff idea sounds good, what model hilux should I be aiming for?
As for the brakes it currently has 200b front struts with s13 calipers with drilled slotted rotors, running r31 brakes on the rear. Am getting adjustable coilovers with adjustable camber tops with the new coupe, these are an r31 strut shortened to suit the 1200 with the r31 brake set up. So will work out what I'm putting on the coupe, probably the 200b struts, keeping the coilovers for the ute. As for the rear brakes, not really sure what to do there.
