Has anyone on here used a minispool on their H165?

Are they available?

Marty

I'd be interested in the answer too - I've a H165 behind a CA18DET - and will also consider a mini spool rather than welding it up.

I've had a google to no avail.

topgear suggested he could make them if there was enough interest. My mate was looking for a minispool for the r180 in his s13, I think the only one he could find was going t be ~$1000 from Japan... out came the welder.

When you weld it not much else can happen, unless the weld breaks!

Good thing about the mini spool is
1. Reversable
2. I think makes better contact with axels - less likely to break axels...

There is a company called Lokka that make them in melb - I guess we could ask them...

hi guys i work for a company in sydney that makes custom diff stuff for any thing you want . a full spool is better than a mini spool because a mini spool is still driving through a single cross pin that is unsupported between the spool insert and the hemi case , wich leeds to pin failure in anything with decent grunt . a full spool even a one off custom is under $800. Might sound expensive but you will never have to touch it again . are you driving this on the road ? a spool or a welded locker is not recomended for road use . any intrest PM me for more details.

I have been driving around for about 3 weeks now on a welded diff, i have not yot tried it out on the track but even on the road i feel like i am in more control. when i put my foot down round a corner it powers through where as before, it felt like it coasted around corners. Even in the wet it feels good (driven carefully) before was a nightmare to get traction. I should have done it ages ago (i had nothing to loose as i have 2 h165).

can't wait to try it on the track so i can keep power on through the tight corners as my inside rear wheel always picks up of the ground.

maybee the best $0.00 i spent yet.

my opinon is as mini spool's are illigal why waste you money just weld it up with some plates in the center (nice and strong).

drive safe.
