Hey guys,

building up a 1200 datsun ute with a ca18det.
building a surge tank etc and wondering if i can do this:
In the VY holden utes (i know of that model) they have a "inspection panel" in the middle of the tray, it unbolts and your fuel tank is in there.
my ute has one but its just over the top of the fuel tank and its only about 15cm x 15cm. but i want to make one a bigger one. by making a "box" (using rhs and sheet metal)
where i can sit my surge tank and battery.
so heres my questions:
Can i cut some of the floor out? - note: im am not cuuting any chassy rails or supports, just floor.
With having the surge tank in there, can i also put my battery in there? (its in one of those black battery boxes)

Also, Can anyone reccomend me a good "Lift pump" and Fuel pump. i was thinking fuel pump, Bosch 044. i should never have problems with it?

here are some photo's to show what i am talking about;

bosch 044 is prob the go but if its not going to be too serious i'd go with the vl turbo 070 pump after the surge tank, i'm using a carter black pump as a pre pump. you could do the skyline fuel tank upgrade tho?? i'd do that in a ute.

pretty sure its a r31 tank, they use an internal efi pump so you can stick a high flow in them where the std one goes, also eliminates the suger tank issue as they have a swirl pot/baffle in built. bigger capacity, 65litres i think. a few guys on here have prob done it have a search around. check out the forums.
