recently bought a 1200 ute with 5 speed rally box. WHat is it worth? If worthwhile il downgrade to 4 speed and sell the 5 speed!

You need to look at the right side of the front main casing and identify if it's a 60 series or a 63A.

or a 56A gearbox.
There are five different 5 speed boxes for the small Datsuns. Which one do you have?

2 x 56 series [F5W56A & F5C56A Both are true 5 speeds, no overdrive, dogleg shift]
2 x 60 series [Dogleg shift & regular shift, both are overdrive]
1 x 63 series [Dogleg shift only, overdrive]

Correct, but so does the left drive versions of the two 60 series gearboxes & since ALL of the 5 speeds that exist within Australia are essentially private imports, we can not rule out these.

There were no left drive 56A five speed gearboxes as far as I can tell, but all left drive models used hydraulic clutch operation.

sorry for the late reply. Cant seem to see a number stamped on the side of the gearbox casing. I will need to kack it up or put it over the pit which I will do very soon. What I was able to see on the top of the bellhousing was the number 8747633 stamped. I will jack it up later today and keep you guys informed.

It runs a cable clutch setup and first gear is in the lower left position!
