Removing fuel tank

Just about to embark on dropping the fuel tank to inspect this breather pipe that 1200rc tells me is there. Had a look in the workshop manual - it doesn't detail dropping the fuel tank.

Do I have to disconnect any of the fuel pipes - I'm not removing the tank only dropping it about 6 inches to see this breather pipe and setup a T piece into it.

Can someone maybe take a pic of the breather pipe through that little access panel in the boot that I don't seem to have?

I've seen the five bolts I need to undo - the trick is dropping the tank without breaking all those stock hoses...

I'm thinking I'll just undo the five bolts and carefully lower the tank and see if it is pulling on any hoses.....a little scary if I snap one though.

I can see the breather hose in the inside of the rear quarter panel, is that the only hose attached to that breather pipe under the car?

i think there is about five hoses that are connected to the fuel tank, when i removed the ute tank about a week ago i found that the tank could be moved only about 1 cm before the hoses became to tight. hopefully you have better luck

I dropped the tank today - the hose arrangement was definitely a little weird.

There is a 10mm breather pipe - that runs back to the filler neck, that's not the weird bit.

There is a second 6mm or so looking hose the is stretched up in the inside of the rear quarter panel it ends up near the breather pipe on the fuel tank....but doesn't actually connect to anything - like an overflow pipe that pours the overflow right onto the top of the fuel tank.

Do you think it should connect to something?

On the coupe the 6mm one comes back down and into the side of the filler neck.
This one comes from the very top of the tank letting you fill it to the brim with precious liquid

Here's the little pipe I'm talking about - there is nowhere for it to plug into at the fuel tank end!

Cool - nice pick up thanks for that. Seems it is a pipe that vents to the atmosphere - just as well as I have already put the fuel tank back in with all my EFI fuel system piping done!

Thanks again, problem solved.
