Ive heard people say that the 2 door 1000 is the lightest rear wheel drive car built?

Wouldnt the Fiat 500 Bambino be lighter?

But is the Bambino actually a 'car' or a quadracycle.

The 1000 ute is lighter than the 2 door sedan, and maybe they meant the lightest front engine rear axle car.

i think i heard the fact that the 2dr sedan povo pack is the lightest RWD car bought into aussie. I would assume the suzuki cappachino would be lighter being a Kei car and all but wasnt aussie delivered.

The B20 Ute is not really a 'car' as it is regarded as a commercial vehicle. It is technically a 'passenger car derivative' in the eyes of the NSW department of blood sucking $#&%! parasites. [rego Nazis]

To compare apples to apples, we must stick to passenger cars as the Italian 'Bambino' roller skate is regarded as one.
In the front engine, rear drive, closed car category, one would have to look long & hard to come up with a passenger car that seats 4 in reasonable comfort & is lighter than the Datsun/Sunny 1000 Standard 2 door sedan.
The book says it is listed at 1,378 lb's or 625 kg's.
Just for the record, the Ute comes in at a whoping 1,356 lb's or 615 kg's

I doubt it ... we are often proven wrong when making statements like this. For example, I expect the Mini pickup "commercial" is lighter. Then in Japan any of the first-generation Kei trucks are probably lighter.

A fair comment, but comparing a truck to a passenger car isn't a realistic comparison. While both may carry 4 passengers, the little trucks place 2 of them out in the cargo area without a seatbelt, or even a seat, & of course, no roof.

Much as I laughed at my fathers restored Bambino in the 90's [he had bought one new in the early 50's & was reliving his youth] it was still a passenger car. [of sorts]

Fiat 500 car: 499 kg
Datsun 1000 car: 625 kg
