Hey,
Im looking at doing some head work. Im gonna port and polish and flow, double valve springs and bigger valves. Been quoted $500 for port and polish, $80 for springs and $15 each for valves. Does this sound alright compared to whats yous may have paid? Is it worth the price? And what hp figures would i be looking at with standard carby and then 32/36.
Thanks

A big port job will cost more than you have indicated...FLOW and back tothe porting tool a couple of times(or more)to get the flow nice and even, probably half as much again.Springs,my most recent set a month ago at mates rates $125.00
Second hand valves machined down to fit your new seats, which you have'nt mentioned..around $25.00 each plus installation not to mention valve guide work if required,a skim and clean to finish off.
The old saying comes up again, you get what you pay for

I have a mate who will do as much porting as you want for $250. He used to work for PAVTEC and specialises in head porting. Does a fantastic job too.

Afraid I wouldn't expect much improvement without also doing inlet manifold & carb, cam, exhaust too.

If they are doing all the work and it includes GST then it sounds fair. Depends on the port work though. How much of it they do.
