on the road worthy note, a mate of mine actually got a VG ute road worthied with a mini spool in it....so depends how lazy the inspector is i guess
but yeah not really legal
crzy_1200_ute, i think that would have more to do with the strength of the diff rather than the fact it was welded. i had a welded h165 in the sedan before i went to the r31 diff and i never had any problems breaking axles
and its not like welding the diff is putting any more strain on it than running a spool, and lots of high performance race cars run them without breaking axles
edit, definately not worth the hassle of changing centres, just pull the whole diff out and give it to me
being an r31 diff it most likely has a mini spool in it, as they arent really easy to weld and spools are readily available
all you need to do is either swap the whole centre over to an open centre or LSD, or just take the spool out and put some spider gears back in
