yep its pretty obvious, when they drive it they will notice for sure

it is legal to have an LSD or other, just not welded solid, not sure how it is worded exactly but essential it has to be able to slip

ok fair enough so i'd need to buy a whole new diff or just a new diff centre? it is an r31 diff. Wouldnt be too hard to find a new not welded diff?? do you think it is worth the hassle?

on the road worthy note, a mate of mine actually got a VG ute road worthied with a mini spool in it....so depends how lazy the inspector is i guess
but yeah not really legal

crzy_1200_ute, i think that would have more to do with the strength of the diff rather than the fact it was welded. i had a welded h165 in the sedan before i went to the r31 diff and i never had any problems breaking axles
and its not like welding the diff is putting any more strain on it than running a spool, and lots of high performance race cars run them without breaking axles

edit, definately not worth the hassle of changing centres, just pull the whole diff out and give it to me
being an r31 diff it most likely has a mini spool in it, as they arent really easy to weld and spools are readily available
all you need to do is either swap the whole centre over to an open centre or LSD, or just take the spool out and put some spider gears back in

it wouldnt be a hard task to find an LSD to suit, it would be a hard task to find one to suit that isnt dead though
and then you would want to make sure you baffle your diff if you have a rebuilt LSD in it as BW diffs really werent designed to keep the oil in the middle of the diff

but any 28 spline BW LSD that had 3.08-4.11 gears will do the job, most commonly found in VN-VS V8s, EB 2-AU xr6 xr8, or R31 skyline silhouette
