howd yous get your headunits into the place above the heater controls? cut the plastic and bend the metal or just cut it all away?

On ay last 1200 I did that.

But on my new one its in the glove box.

Yeah, mines in the glovebox right now. I dont like it there tho, i cant reach it.. And theres a big ugly hole where the fella that owned it before me started cuting.. So i cut the metal too?

Put it some place else. or get an ipod and a cable and wire it into the new speakers. Everyone who cuts their dash will regret it sooner or later.

you can cut and bend the metal into tabs with the holes from the stock radio controls.
This also works well to mount the bracket for the head unit.

Also you can then return to stock easily with only a little shaving of the plastic dash part, not hacing away at it.

That way no regrets

I'm going for a clean stock looking interior(apart from my z seats ) so ill be hiding mine in the glove box id like to do what my dad did in his lj and put it under the seat but the frame that the front of the seat rail bolts to is in the way

I hope i dont regret it!! Im pretty happy with it, there was a huge half hacked hole from the previous owner. I hacked away like crazy!! Yeah i bent those tabs and ill use them to hold the headunit.

If it was already butchered then go ahead but if anyone is thinking of putting a modern stereo into the pristine dash of a "vintage" car which is what our Datsuns really are , forget it, your just f#cking it up.
