Just looking for some opinion out there in what box to put behind my sr20 in my 1200. Was looking at some boxes today and the guy at the shop said I could run the rb box with the sr20 bell housing as the box is a bit shorter. Is this a good way to go or am i better off sticking to the sr20 box ???

Yeah..It'll cost you $700-$1000 to do it I'd think.

But the shortler RB gearbox has the same gearset as the S13 in a shorter box.

At the end of the day..You do need to keep tyhings simple. If you break the gearbox, you have gotta remake another one. It'll never be a straight swap.

Owning a modified car is fun..but when so much stuff is custom, you make life hell for yourself when it comes time to replace or service broken stuff.

I run the RB box behind the SR. It is a simple bell housing swap, no stress really.

From memory we went for the RB box as it had a shorter 5th gear, so the gap between 4th and 5th was not so large for the race car. On a street car, you may want a taller 5th gear if you are crusing down the freeway.

If you have a chat with Geoff at SSS Automotive in Girraween, he will point you in the right direction.

For the cost of the RB/SR box, i would just use the Standard SR box, i run it in my ute and the shifter is not that far back.
