the winner would have been a 5 litre taxi that bears absolutely no resemblance to any car on the road. not sure which brand as they all look the same to me

they banned all the good cars

In order to qualify as a V8 Supercar, they have to shorten the body of the Holdens as they are over the maximum permitted length for the class from what I remember reading in one of the magazines. Apparently the length is taken from the back door area.
If this is true, then the connection between what you can buy & what they race is even less realistic.

I notice that the Chrysler 300 is a no-no too.
I wonder what they are frightened of? Hemi power perhaps, .... well after all, it is an unfair advantage.
Like the KB10, .......... Mopar Hemi, it's no ordinary engine.

The whole V8 supercar thing is a bit over rated i think. My theory is, If I had millions to throw at a car, it would go just as fast as those ones would and probally be just as competive. So weather you back holden or Ford is really irrelevent, they are the same car anyways.

And the fact that the only similarity to what is available to the regular Aussie is the badges, it means diddly squat.

I think it was group C where the car raced had to be exactly as it was on the showroom floor, including all the interior trim, radio, dash, the whole lot.

Now that is a race that would determine who can manufacture a better car. perhaps the race should be that you have to use the bottom v8 model available to the public.
So a V8 executive and a V8 XT. Still it wouldnt be so exciting I spose and there wouldnt be as much investment in research, but it would be a real holden Vs ford race then.

i remember when brocky (VB/VC era) had the air con compressor (one of those big cast iron harrison ones) bolted to the passenger side floor because it came on the car so it had to be fitted. they never stated where so that was where he wanted the weight. low down and balancing the driver

you don't even need millions to beat a v8. the 250cc 2 stroke go karts are worth 30 - 50 grand and lap eastern creek quicker than a big heavy falcodore.
