sr20 conversion questions

is this conversion a pain in the ass? where is the best place to put a brake booster?

maddat.com do a conversion kit, but you would need a bigger manual tunnel from my understanding. and you apparently dont even have room in the engine bay for a master cylinder so goodluck with a booster. im looking at doing the conversion so ive only read about it.

yeah maddat do a tranmission tunnel i see.... ive heard of people relocating the battery and using the battery space for a booster/matser cylinder mount is this a big job?

The conversion is a bit more involved than the CA, but can be done.

Yes you will need a larger trans tunnel, I sell a pre-fabed one that just needs to be welded in.

The brake booster will fit with my kit, as i have had some specially made with no large backing plate. The clutch reservior needs to be relocated to clear the intake manifold.

At this stage i have only fitted S13 engines, but the S14/S15 bolt up the same, i just havent tryed the intake manifolds for clearence.

The standard or 120Y sway bar wont clear the sump, we have an adjustable 22mm bar for the conversion.


And the Question i always get asked... Can they be engineered and registed?


Yes

If your Engineer is saying no, get a better one.

YES THIS CONVERSION IS A PAIN IN THE ARSE I started 4 years ago although I have limited home time just about finished you will tend to forget all the head aches once you hit the loud pedle

I have done 3 conversions now. there pretty easy to me. I do lhd ones. 2 auto transmission tunnels and 1 manual trans tunnel. 2 det 1 de. I have pics on the forums. :) Brake booster for lhd is easier to fit.

ok then i am in the process of purchasing a S13 SR20 then the search for a gearbox begins

also it seems i will be spending some big bucks at maddat to make this as quick as possible
