this may sound like a stupid question but i own a datsun 1200 ute 1984 standard a12 engine is that the same as a b110 1200?????

No it's not a stupid question & no, it's not the same engine.
The 1200 engine in the B110 car & the B120 ute, from 1970 to 1973 was a development of the original A10 engine, basically with two extra main bearings, & more stroke to bring it up from 988cc to 1171cc.

For 1974 there were substantial changes to the design, although it still remained an A series engine. These changes included.

The alternator was repositioned from low on The left to high on the right to make room for an aircon compressor [when used]
The distributor was repositioned back where the 1200 fuel pump had been to make room for the alternator.
The fuel pump was positioned elsewhere on the block when the engine mount on the right was moved back 40mm
The engine mount on the left was moved back 40mm to balance things out & to provide more room for the aircon compressor.
The method of geting oil from the block into the head for rocker oiling was simplified.
The timing indicator markings were reversed meaning that the 1200 had a single indicator on the timing case & various marks on the pulley. The new engine had a single mark on the pulley & varoius graduations on the timing case.

Other than that, & some smog gear, it's the same engine, & both early & later types were, quite surprisingly, still designated as A12 engines by the factory.

good a little clearer now... so if i want a new ring gear then b110 1200 part will fit?

Simply heat the ring gear itself with a heating torch [not a welding flame] all over & it will grow to the point where it will simply fall off if the flywheel is facing down. It will NOT be necessary to heat any part of it to a point where it starts to glow red, just warm the sucker up untill it comes off by itself.

If you have a mate with a pair of multi grips then two of you can lift it off easily enough, but of course the flywheel must be facing up as the ring gear sits against a shoulder on the flywheels engine side.

Fitting a replacement is also easy, so if you remove the dud one first, then remove the donor one, just keep it heated with the torch & it will drop right back onto the flywheel. Keep it heated untill you are sure it's on the right way round & properly seated.
Once done, turn off the torch & get a drink while you let it cool.
