so will a Z box bolt up to a L series? yes it will, but the shifter and pretty sure gearbox mount will both be on an angle

or do you mean can you swap the bellhousing from one to another?
if they are both 71 series gearboxes then yes you can swap the front half over

a bloke asked me if the front half of the case would swap over, he has an l20b spare and the z18 g'box is playing up, he has a z18t in a 1600, i thought it would change, dont know how longer the l20 box will last though, he is not kind to them

well what you have are afew opions a fj20 gear box will bolt up to it but trying to find one that is!!! Another thing you can change the front half of of the gear box (bellhousing) to suit a r30 skyline box you have to change a bearing in side the box its not hard to do i used an NA fj20 bell housing. I dont know if they are the same as the Z18t gearbox but and fj20 bell housing will bolt upto an r30 skyine gearbox
