At the mo, I'm getting about 10km/litre on my carb but it needs help - missing linkages, bad float (it cracked numerous times), secondary main jet plug bolt thing has worn threads, cant set my idling - revs are way to high, so I want to either do a service exchange (get the same but better condition carb for mine & some cash ontop) or another carb altogether.

Would it be wise to get a weber (saw the dgv 32/36 should be best) or stick with the hitachi? What would fuel consumption be like with the weber?

My engine is fully stock - thinking of changin ignition to electric if cash allows (i was quoted US60 for a 2nd hand electric dizzy that i will have to fit myself - & I dont have a dwell meter)

Really appreciate your feed back...

I think that you would have to work the motor slightly for the 32/36 to be worth your while. Why don't you just try and source a good second hand carb from a champ?

Agree with datster Ethan.
The gains on a stock engine with a weber are not wothwhile and you will use more fuel as well.
Look for a good used one.

I have to disagree about the Weber not being worthwhile on a stock engine.
The little A series loves to breath, a Weber will make a big difference to performance, especially if you free up the exhaust a little bit.

Okay fellers I am just a simple printer but don't you think adding a weber to an A12 that is not only stock but not in the best of shapes as well a waste of time.I would think that it would be better to get a cam, raise the compression and all the other things that we do to these legendary little A series engines to make the weber worth while???Again I could be wrong as I am a printer and not a mechanic.
