Hey guys i have recently purchased Josh's old ute (has passed through a few sets of hands now). So i took her for a drive today (its only my weekended, so its only travelled around 200kms) and well yes she got a little hot. So I rang the RACQ they came out and put some water into her, a water pump bolt was loose causing the leak and also there is no over flow bottle so it just drains out onto the ground.... So started her back up and was all sweet until I went to leave and saw some bellowing out from the exhaust, so I think I fried the seals in the turbo. Is this a likely thing to happen? Will rip the turbo off shortly to get it all fixed up, hopefuly someone can fix it before christmas

So I havnt gotten around to taking the turbo off yet, I have been sorting a few other issues out first. But before I go ahead and take the turbo out what are people sugestions as to what I should be looking at?As it currently sits once you start it up it pretty much starts to blow white smoke out the exhaust. When it first started I imidiatly thought a blown head gasket but being my first turbo car I am unsure. Could it be the seals in the turbo blown and it is spewing water/oil into the exhaust? Thanks in advance Dan

presure test the head with one of those diles that screws into your spark plug hole. and if you hav pressue in your chambers then I'd emagin it is the turbo?

Compression is pretty constant between the cylinders.... only about 5 psi difference between them and that is if i was doin it correctly? All i did was disconnect the injector plug so there was no spark and pulled each spark plug one at a time and put the compression tester on. I did notice that once i had finished there was a small pool of water on the ground from the exhaust??

make sure its not fuel because it might just be your tune is way off and could be rich. otherwise if its definetly water and judging on the compression test you did (by the way what was the compression about 160-180) i would be looking at the only other place water could be getting in which would be the turbos water cooling maybe. and make sure your mufler isnt full of trapped water

run it at idle wihout rad cap and look for bubbles rev it (~2000) and look again pressure test cooling system cold, without plugs and look in cyls for water do a leakdown test and look in rad for bubbles if you cant do this go to an engine recon shop and have them diagnose for you approx $100 -$150

Compression was 140psi... And no bubbles coming up through the radiator, but i have no idea if i did the compression test right? Id presume thats the way its done, seems pretty simple

your symptoms (as you describe them) arent right for a blown head gasket what is coming out the exhaust? smoke or steam? maybe youve lost oil control ring tension maybe youve just cooked the oil

Ok so i finished off the change of the turbo, started her back up and still smokes out the exhaust... And by smoke it must be steem as it leaves a small pool of water on the ground
