it has been so long since i could post anything of value on here.......so i didn't post anything.

well now i have something...the coupe finally has a running motor and now does it run!!
on 15 psi the thing is making just over 250rwhp on a very soft tune so as to not kill this motor. i am rev cutting at 7000 rpm and running about a degree less timing then it could to save me buying yet another ca.

what is a little concerning is the way it makes the power tho..turbo maybe a little large as it has nothing till about 4000 rpm then goes from 170rwhp to 230 in 500 rpm. will post pics and the graph when i pick the car up this week

Congrats. With all the HP, be sure to keep it shiny side up, rubber side down.

i hear and read you can do it but i think in qld the enginering would be quite involved.

i was under the impression tho that 1.8 turbo was the limit as it depends on the claimed weight of the standard car when built. a 120y can have a fair bit more then a 1200 coupe for instance, but who am i to know for sure.

i just really like CA's and would run one over a SR anyday.

i didnt think weight would be the limiting factor.
isnt it more a case of what engine capacity the car originally started with??

there is capacity to weight limits,

changing turbo is unrelated to this, but would come in to play to do with emiisions and other modification limitations

Weight has to do with it in a power to weight ratio sense. Thats why they only allow a certain engine capacity Also from the chassis point of view or lack there of in 1200's. That's why you can put a monster engine in a car with a full chassis More chassis increases over all weight/rigidity increase engine capacity allowed. Apparently there are some SR turbo 1200 datsuns around running illegally or maybe i just saw that in a movie .

national code of practice states
(section LA engine)

quote

"vehicles ORIGINALLY under 800kg : max NA motor cc's = original weight x 3 , max turbo/super charged cc's = original weight x 2.5.

vehicles originally between 800 and 1100kg : max NA motor cc's = original weight x 4 , max turbo/supercharged cc's = original weight x 2.75.

over 1100kg : max NA motor cc's = original weight x 5 , max turbo/supercharged cc's = original weight x 3"

the engine capacity for rotaries is 2 x the swept volume of all rotors (ie: 13B = 1308cc x 2 = 2616cc)

weight is based on heaviest SEDAN model with largest engine option

this is only a few bits out of 31 pages on engine mods/swaps. you need to read it all before you spend money on stuff you cant use. saying "the guys on 1200.com said it is ok" wont cut it at the pits
