For any of the American members or anyone that might know. i am thinking about getting a mint datsun 1200 and building it for the FSP class in the scca solo2. Could this car built to the rules compete against the 92 civic DX hatchbacks, VW rabbits, and BMW 2002's. With sidedraft carbs, lightweight flywheel, stock rebuild, port matched, and straight pipe w/header how much power could this A12 put out? Also how much does this car weigh? I am supposed to leave the interior, and bumpers intact. Has anyone else autox'd this car with similar mods? how was it?

OK it only took me a week.

Are you planning on going to Nationals or just local events?

Back when I ran DSP locally with my 1200 it was competitve with a friend's Honda Civic (he went on to an F125 National Championship) neither car was prepped to the limit but they were prepped to about the same level.

A 1200 in Street Prepared trim will be about 1620 pounds, IF you sent the motor to Rebello for a wazoo 6K build to the limit of the rules I'd say 85-90HP tops. The biggest issue for Solo2 Nats is the 1200 has a very narrow track. Civics and Rabbits are probably 4-6 inches wider . Remember a 1200 isn't even barely over 4 feet wide.

When did 1200's go from DSP to FSP??

When i started autox'ing in 2005 they were in FSP but i don't know exactly when they moved, it could have been before then. Thanks for the info i really appreciate it. I didn't know they could get down that low. The power to weight ratio is still decent that is if i could get 90hp out of it. The stance i don't think will be too much of a problem, 13x10's with 255 A6's i think will be just fine. Now i just have to find a 1200 or 210.
