I've got the same question as I'm probably going to put an SR20DE in my next circuit car. I remember that Converted used an R33 5 speed behind his SR20, can't remember why that was.
Maybe you could use an R31 5 speed from a Skyline or Crummydore. The old reliable R30 stumpy box comes to mind as well. I have been told by Stewart Wilkins that the 5 speeds out of Navara is an option as well. I have the standard SR20 box still (have had the engine since 1994) but the amount of cutting & fabrication around the back of the box means I'm probably going to use it as a source of the front half, unless I can find a Drifter who's blown up a gear box & is willing to sell me the remains.

yeah any 71 series 5 speed will go into that bellhousing with minor adjustments

the CA and SR 71c gearboxes will be a straight fit, also rb20 boxes and rb25de. vg30e boxes might even be the same
71b boxes, which are mainly L series long boxes will go in with a different bearing at the front and some kinda sleeve on one of the shifter rods, also ca20 boxes
71a, which is the r30 stump will also go in the same as above

but it would be best to use a CA or SR box as they are alot nicer than the earlier ones

and yes r33 gearboxes can be adapted to sr bellhousings if you have a tig....never seen one that hasnt had a cut and shut bellhousing. but those boxes are huge, about twice the sixe of an sr box

b310gx, id be interested in your srdet box with no bellhousing depending on how much you want for it

Are the boxes in R31 Pintara's 71c's or 71b's. In the last few days I've decided to use SR20 I've got in my Sunny sedan, instead of an L20B. If the Pintara boxes are the 71c's, this should be an easy source of a gearbox. I can remember seeing a manual Pintara a few years ago in a wreckers & the shift position was at the front of the oval in the transmission tunnel. Maybe I wont have to cut too much in the Sunny. If it works, then I'd probably wouldn't have much use for the old box, so I'd wouldn't want too much. I might even be interested in a straight swap, though I'd have to find out how much they want for the Pintara box, as I might be ripping you off.
I was going to try to call some drift workshops to see if I could find a bellhousing, I ask how much the boxes are worth at the same time.

I know where there is a pintara we plan to go get the rear disc set up off it. If pig doesnt end up buying your box i would be keen. Yesterday i checked my SR tail shaft in a VL commodore 5 speed box and it fits After all they are a Nissan engine RB30, just food for thought.

pintaras are 71bs im pretty sure, so would probably be easier to just get an L series box

VLs would run a 71c

apparently the rb20 71cs were shorter than the s13 ones
