Hey guys I appologize in advance. I just signed up today to quickly find some information on a 620, and with heavily capped internet I'm not even able to really search through the existing information on the forum, so I'll just be a n00b and inconvenience you all, and I know this forum isn't remotely specializing in these cars, but it was recommended to me and I know a lot of you guys have utes, so I thought it was my best bet.
Basically I'm looking at buying a particular long wheelbase Datsun 620 ute
I just assumed that this would pretty much be a 180B with a solid axle in long ute-like form lol. Datsuns are pretty reknowned for having great interchangability between models etc. I was really keen until I noticed that it had six stud wheels. My whole interpretation of the car kinda changed after I noticed that. Rear leaf suspension, and no struts in the front etc. A-series motor? It looks like a pushrod motor to me which I'm not familiar with in a Datto. What capacity would it be?
How hard is it to make one of these things into what I would consider a ute rather than a truck. Like... four stud wheels (like 240K brakes or something), floor shifter rather than the crap on the column, nice suspension etc. Are things interchangeable? If I wanted to install an L-series motor for example, would it bolt in? What kinda diff does it have?
Sorry for being a full newbie about it, but without weeks to ponder about it, and no internet speed I kinda don't have an alternative. I'm not a Datsun person (yet? lol), hense the very limited knowledge
If I can't have the thing dumped to the weeds with some deep dish wheels and a floor-shift manual, amongst other things, then I'm not really interested in it, even though I absolutely love the look of the body.
Thanks - Heath
