Pretty good day on Saturday.

I picked up an A14 in bits for a great price. Everything is there bar the flywheel (I left the pistons, pushrods, pumps and dizzies behind though! Whoops). Get them on Monday.

Dan got a 120y wagon registered and running with a 5 speed for a pretty damn good price. A few spares thrown in. Best bargain I've seen in a while.

Good old A12 battled the steep hills to make it back to Adelaide.

I saw this on E-Bay as well, good to know somebody here got it. My friend also scored big on Saturday, he got a 1978 120Y sedan in very good condition from E-Bay, Blue with a white vinyl roof, 3rd owner, we're going to fix the paint if possible & put it on historic plates. He also picked up a 1970 1000 ute that was on E-Bay, with an A12, an A14, & an A15, a dogleg O/D 5 speed, DCOE webers on a manifold, extractors to suit & spare left & right doors. It has a rebuilt front end, & most of the rust was repaired. Just needs some work on the body, then reassembling. Pity I don't fit, or I might use it as a run around. The only downer is that the A14 was in pieces & all the parts are rusty, particularly the crank, which I was going to use in an A12 for my friends 120Y coupe.

Your mate with the 1000 ought to be pretty pleased. That's a good deal considering prices of late (A14's, A15's 5 Speeds AND Datsun 1000).

It turns out the A14 had a lighter version crank, which I 'thought' I spotted when we lifted into the car. I am beginning to think these aren't as uncommon as first thought. My second A14 and second lighter crank.

Here are some pictures. In contrast to my A14 in PNG I think this is the matching block/engine.

The block reads; "N10X" at the top and "G34"






The other end of the block has a "15" embossed on a circle.






The crankshaft has two sets of numbers; "H89" and "30-0" (I think the ones in the wiki are H8940's).

yep that is the scalloped crank
my a14 also had this type of crank but it was a thrift engine (round port head/ later manifold)
did your motor have those 13 head bolts i mentioned in the previos thread?

Nah I forgot the pistons, conrods, oil pump dizzy. SHould be picking them up this week.

Got sidetracked and then left without noticing.

I got a fair few of those 13 bolts from over the years (all in PNG now). Never took real notice of them. I remember Dodgeman talking about them ages ago.

I think I even threw 6 or so away when I last left Adelaide, whoopsie.

I'd really like to know which blocks these cranks originally belonged to.

I don't reckon they are as uncommon as I first thought they were.
