Most common cause: slightly corroded battery terminals. Clean them and twist on tight. It may not be the problem but is common, and easy to check.

check the battery volatage if you can, or even give it a good charge over night on a charger and ensure the terminals are clean and make sure its connected up tightly, does anything come on? like warning lights? will your headlights come one? things like that will give you some hint as to what it may be

I had a strange problem a few years ago with a Holden crummy dore...
Checked all the usual things - Ignition, power, starter etc.
Turned out to be a faulty switch for the auto (to stop the car from starting in gear).
Also put a stereo in a car once - then it wouldn't start???
One of the previous owners had put a kill switch under the dash and I had bumped it!

If all of the usual things don't work... Think out side the box!
