Hi guys hope you can help. Im shopping for a b110 to start racing in the classic in SA. Now do i buy the sedan or coupe and why? Thanx a milion.

Nice to see another Cape Town man here, if it was me looking for a datto race car it will be a ute: Reason, to be different from the rest.

Otherwise the sedan, I just love the looks of it.

Have a chat to Rezlo, he races one up country with a lot of success.

I think the coupe is the litest option, and probly most arodynamic.

Sedan has less room under the rear gards witch mite hamper things? unless it's a 2 door sedan I forgot about those..

There was a while back a discussion about 1200 weights. Apparently the sedan is the lightest of the bunch.

My personal option would be the sedan. Yes, I know I only say so because I have one.
Here are the reasons:
1. Apparently the lightest.Just can't remember where the thread is.
2. Readily available on the South African roads.
3. Parts more available.

With about R40 000 to do:
Full body respray,replacing rubbers,wider rims and good quality tires, A15 engine with allot of goodies and full suspension restore you can have a Porsche (of the same era though) eater around the track.
Just ask Rezlo on the site. He currently has my dream setup.

I think that was about thounsands when they were talking about fule economy competitions.

I am fairly shure with 1200's the coupes are the lightest(670-680kgs from memory?) because the roof line is lowere(witch meens a little less glass aswell as just steel) there is no rear door's and no wall between the boot and back seats

Id do a 2 door sedan if they were more availible hear, I think there my favorit 1200? but otherwise I to would do a 4 door because coupes are my least favorit.

2 door sedans I remember are the lightest for the 1200.

Id love one but wouldnt turn back a 1200 coupe either
with a boosted QR20DE and single 2 1/2 inch custom SU.

I even know of a 1200 sedan with a A15 with dual sides standing in Hartswater, all stripped out for gymkhana racing. The owner is sparkyza1.

Thanks guys I spoke to Rezlo and have a very hi regard for his way of thinking from past experiances. According to him the 4 door sedan is the better balanced one for track racing. As for being different and racing a ute, well i dont fit im almost 2m in length so getting into a ute is like doing karting lol. But ill keep u posted on my hunt for a 4door sedan. Thanx

Aww you guys are going to make me blush...

Reasons I choose Sedan (we only got 4 door here)
Parts are cheaper,
Coupe glass is almost impossible to get,
easier to get a semi ok body to start your project with

And when you watch them at any track here the sedans usualy get the coupe's around the corners, ive never corner weighted them but from watching them plenty around the country the sedan's always seem to out corner the coupes.

They wont let you run a ute in Historics or Marque, its "saloon" car only unfortunatly.
